Pine Knolls Neighborhood In Corona CA

The Neighborhood Of Pine Knolls

Pine Knolls is a neighborhood in central Corona, California. It is sometimes called Pine Knolls Estates. This is an older neighborhood built just outside of the Grand Boulevard loop that separates it from downtown Corona.

You can find relatively affordable starter homes here. For example, you could pay a little over 500K for a three bedroom, two bath home in Pine Knolls. This is small given modern tastes, but most of the single family homes in Pine Knolls were built in the 1950s.There has been some infill development, tearing down homes bought for 400K to build duplexes or larger single family homes. One point in favor of this neighborhood is that there are no homeowner’s associations like those that dominate south Corona. This area attracts many who want to be close to downtown but don’t want to live in a condo, and almost all the single family homes are one story. The affordable housing stock is why the average resident in Pine Knolls is 36 years old, several years younger than the state and city averages. On the other hand, this explains why 26 percent of Pine Knolls households are in poverty. The average household earnings are 54K.

The tree theme is found throughout Pine Knolls. For example, you’ll find Cedar Street, Pine Street, Acacia Street, Sycamore Street, Redwood Street, Filbert and Spruce Street in the subdivision. Fullerton Avenue and Rimpau Avenue are major thoroughfares. The largest retail strip in the neighborhood is found at the intersection of Fullerton Avenue and Magnolia Avenue.

Residents are generally assigned to Lincoln Elementary School. They may be assigned to Garretson Elementary School. Most students end up at Auburndale Intermediate School. That feeds into Centennial High School. Centennial High School is south of Magnolia Avenue and almost as far south as the Kaiser Permanente Corona medical offices. On the other hand, Corona Fundamental Intermediate School is roughly a mile away. All of these schools are part of the Corona-Norco Unified School District. Pine Knolls is relatively close to the private schools in downtown Corona, as well. For example, residents are about a mile from Crossroads Christian School, Christian Heritage School, Saint Edward School and Amor Christian Academy.

The Pine Knolls area is one of the most walkable suburban neighborhoods in Corona, California. The average walk score is in the forties. It is a five minute drive or thirty minute walk to downtown Corona. The area has more bike paths than average, so it gets a bike score of 41. It received a public transit score of 20. There is bus service along Magnolia Avenue and South Main Street. Residents are also a five minute drive from the train station in downtown Corona. The parking garage for the train station is one of the tallest buildings in the city of Corona.

The main park in the area is Kellogg Park. City Park is nearly a mile to the north. That’s the home of the closest public pool. Sunnyslope is southwest of Pine Knoll and is separated from it by Rimpau Avenue.
