Downtown Newport Beach Has A Lot To Offer Tourists And Locals

Downtown Newport Beach, also known as the Downtown Business District, is the central business district of Newport Beach, California. It is located on the Pacific coast, on the Newport Beach peninsula. Santa Ana Heights borders Downtown to the North, Fashion Island to the east, and Balboa Fun Zone to the south.

History

Downtown was first developed in 1906 when the Pacific Electric Railway Company built a line through the area connecting it with Los Angeles. Downtown became a center of activity for residents and tourists alike, with hotels, restaurants, and shops lining the streets. In 1915, the Balboa Pavilion, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, was built. 

Downtown remained a popular destination throughout the twentieth century and underwent several redevelopment projects to maintain its appeal. In 1976, the City of Newport Beach designated Downtown as a Historic District. In the 1990s, the Downtown underwent a resurgence with the addition of new businesses and the restoration of historic buildings. 

Downtown is a vibrant community with a mix of businesses, restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. Downtown is also home to many of the city’s cultural institutions, including the Orange County Museum of Art, the Newport Beach Central Library, and the Balboa Bay Club.

Orange County Museum Of Art

The Orange County Museum of Art is located in Downtown Newport Beach and is one of the city’s major cultural institutions. The museum houses a permanent collection of more than 3,000 works of art and temporary exhibitions. The museum also offers educational programs for children and adults and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

Newport Beach Central Library

The Newport Beach Central Library is located in downtown Newport Beach and is the city’s main library. The library opened in 1971 and underwent a significant expansion and renovation in 1998. Today, the library features a collection of more than 400,000 items, including books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, and CDs. The library also has a meeting room accommodating up to 100 people and a computer lab with 24 computers.

Balboa Bay Club

The Balboa Bay Club is located in Downtown Newport Beach and is one of the city’s premier private clubs. The club features a variety of amenities, including a fitness center, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a waterfront dining room. The club also has a marina with slips for boats up to 40 feet long.

Downtown Newport Beach is home to a variety of shops and restaurants. Fashion Island, one of the city’s major shopping centers, is located Downtown. Downtown is also home to several restaurants, bars, cafes, and the Balboa Bay Club.

Entertainment & Nightlife

Downtown Newport Beach offers a variety of entertainment and nightlife options. One favorite dive bar is The Rusty Pelican. This bar has been Downtown for over 40 years and is known for its cheap drinks and friendly atmosphere. Downtown is also home to several nightclubs, including Club Q, Mansion Newport Beach, and Sutra Lounge.

Getting Around

Downtown Newport Beach is easy to get around on foot, by bike, or by car. The neighborhood is served by the OCTA bus system and the Metrolink commuter rail system. Downtown is also home to two major freeways, the 73 and the 55.

This is a tour by Downtown on Newport Beach CA, so from Olen Properties, 7 Corporate Plaza Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, we are going to move to Newport Beach Fire Dept. – Fashion Island Station 3, 868 Santa Barbara Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, so taking corporate plaza to the west, you must take the second exit on the round point and turn right onto Coast Hwy, and then make a right onto Newport Center Dr passing by the Newport Center-Civic CEnter bus stop and turning left when you get to the fashion island, then you must take a left onto Santa Barbara Dr to find the fire dept. After passing by the Bombero St

Now we are heading to Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado Ave, Newport Beach, CA 92660, so leaving the fire department, you must take Santa Barbara Dr to the south towards Meridian Condominium Complex and turn right onto Newport Center Dr when you get to Fashion Island, continue to the south and keep going until you can turn right onto San Miguel Dr, after that turn right onto Avocado Ave to find the Public Library after getting to the Newport Beach Concerts on the Green

Our next stop will be Newport Beach Police Department, 870 Santa Barbara Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, so leaving the Public Library take Avocado Ave to the northeast and turn left onto Civic Center Dr, when you get to Meadows Asset Management turn right onto Newport Center Dr and turn left when you get to Fashion Island, then turn left onto Santa Barbara Dr and the police station will be just before getting to Jamboree Rd, in front of the Chase Bank 

Now we are moving to Regal Edwards Big Newport, 300 Newport Center Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, so leaving the Police Station, you must take Santa Barbara Dr to the Northwest and turn right onto Jamboree Rd, when you get to the Chevron gas station, turn right onto San Joaquin Hills Rd, then turn right onto Santa Cruz Dr and make a right again onto Newport Center Dr, go around Fashion Island until you can turn right after passing by Body Design and Daily Spa Living to find the Movie Theater

Our next stop will be Newport Beach Country Club, One Clubhouse Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, so leaving the Theater you must take San Miguel Dr to the southeast and turn right onto Avocado Ave, once you get to White Cloud Carpet turn right onto Coast Hwy and turn right onto Clubhouse Dr to get to the Club on your right after turning left following the road

Now we are heading to the City of Newport Beach – Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, so leaving the club, you must take Clubhouse Dr to the south and Turn left onto Coast Hwy, and passing the Coast Hwy turn left onto Newport Center Dr, when you see Citibank on your left, turn right onto Civic Center Dr and continue until you get to the big parking lot behind City of Newport Beach – Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660.
