All You Need To Know About El Sobrante
Located to the northeast of Contra Costa County, El Sobrante is one diverse neighborhood with a population of 13000 approx. When you drive towards the Berkeley Hills, about six miles to the Dam Road in San Pablo, you will be greeted by a faded sign that is quietly peeking through a bunch of Oak trees welcoming you to the neighborhood. The greater part of the El Sobrante area also includes some portions of Richmond City. The El Sobrante neighborhood offers a suburban look and feels where you will be surrounded by hills and where most of the residents own their own homes.
Amenities and Features
Coming to the amenities in this suburban locality, you will find quite a lot of parks, small shops, and restaurants. Being a suburban neighborhood, you may not find many large shops or a town square for that matter. The town however recently got an upgrade to the local high school that is now a major attraction for many families moving into the locality. The locals have got access to hiking trails known as the Wildcat Canyon. It is a great neighborhood for people looking for a small-town yet suburban vibe.
People and Places
People riding on horseback in El Sobrante is a common sight in the neighborhood. The neighborhood hosts one of the first Sikh Religious Center in this area. The Gurudwara Sahib built-in 1879 is considered the Sikh Center in the Bay Area. The Golden domes of the Gurudwara Sahib overlook El Sobrante from somewhere up in the hills. You can see visitors flocking into the Sikh temple for community events and prayers. As far as other places of interest go you have Maria’s Gourmet Pastries known for their Tres Leches Cakes, Thrift Town which is a major attraction and houses everything from furniture to artwork to t-shirts. There is a vintage Oliver’s Hardware store that is around since 1940 that adds to the rustic and old feel of the city.
