La Sierra South All You Need To Know

Located in Riverside County, California La Sierra South is known for its suburban look and feel.

The neighborhood became a part of the City of Riverside in the years 1963 and 1964 and then in 1966 and 2006 some-more smaller adjoining areas joined the City. The most recent annexation was done in August 2011 that included the southern side of Indiana Avenue located at Pierce Street.

The neighborhood was originally named after a Mexican Land grant known as Rancho La Sierra de Sepulveda, this neighborhood extended from north of La Sierra South to Lake Mathews. This land changed hands – was first acquired by Abel Stearns and then was taken and sold by Lester Robinson.

Amenities And Features

The La Sierra South neighborhood is well established with various residential areas that fit all income brackets and levels. There are retail centers that cater to shopping needs. For connectivity, there is the Metrolink Station at Indiana that provides transit and travel facilities. There is a Fire Station in the neighborhood to cater to any emergencies. The neighborhood has many great parks that include La Sierra Park, Harrison Park, Victoria Cross neighborhood park, etc. Residents also can enjoy biking and hiking on the Victoria Avenue Biking and Hiking Trails created for the purpose. The neighborhood enjoys many good public schools as well such as Orrenmaa Elementary, Alvord Continuation, Arizona Middle, etc.

The Neighborhood And Its Community

Today many portions of the Le Sierra neighborhood are engaged in agriculture. Within the neighborhood, there is a planned community known as the Riverwalk Vista Specific Plan which provides for a residential community that has single-family stand-alone houses in a great village setting. Within the residential community there are some open spaces, commercial centers, schools, etc. all within a walking distance. This neighborhood has a great potential of having a mixed-use, transit-oriented development and is great for residents and people who love to stay a little away from the humdrum and mundaneness of city life.
