Did you know that there is a website where you can type in any legal question, and real live lawyers will respond almost instantaneously? Its true. Its called Avvo.com. I know this because I am one of the lawyers who respond to the family law questions in my local area.

I think this is such a great service because not only do you get an answer from one lawyer, but on most questions numerous lawyers respond. So you generally get a very complete answer to your question. I know for myself, I get email notifications that someone has posted a question in my area of expertise, and I usually end up answering that question within the first hour that it is posted.
So you can get legal advice that is free, timely, and usually quality, all while enjoying the comforts of your own home.

Of course, there is no substitute for the real thing. So if you are in the market for retaining a lawyer of your very own, this is also a good place to do some research ahead of time. Most attorneys have a profile that will tell you some basic info about themselves, list their fees, possibly have some client reviews, and the like.
